Ever since we moved house, I have been wanting to write about the garden. I began this blog almost a year ago and there it has stayed...in the draft stage ! Gardens are in a constant stage of flux, ever evolving and if you don't keep a record of what you have planted, what worked and what didn't then you inevitably forget.Write things down. It's very good advice which I don't always follow ! Writing a blog would I thought be a good discipline for me-to have a space to remember what I had grown. Share my successes (and failures) and post some of my favourite photos. A friend once asked me whether I came from a 'gardening family' and whether I had always loved gardens. Neither of my parents were keen on gardening. I grew up in a post-war council house which had large front and back gardens. (They always did in those days as a vegetabe patch was the norm) Our garden was just lawns with trees and shrubs. Mum had a collection of lilac bushes and dad grew wallflowers
